This week we talk about Trash Island (as it is referred to by non-experts), the popular conception of a floating trash island in the middle of the Pacific. Turns out, like everything else, it's more complicated than that. We examine the impact of garbage on our world, our oceans, our oceanlife, and more.  

Episode 10: Come at me, Mackenzie!

For this halloween-adjacent episode we talk about the Black Mausoleum, as it's regularly known, properly named Mackenzie's Mausoleum. Located on the site of Grefriars Kirkyard, the site has a dark history and a creepy present.  Tonight we talk about wars of the past, legends of the present, and the truly terrifying thing about the nature of our collective history. 

Episode 9: Shruti Patootie

This week, we are talking about Indian music and the theory behind it.  It turns out that even something as seemingly straightforward as how many steps there are in a musical scale varies here, and we learn just how different people can think about music around the globe. Episode 8: Who Rang? The Ourang!

This week we get into a mysterious ship whose reputation has grown for many years, and yet about so little is really known. In 1948, a ship's crew undergoes a disaster event that is never quite explained, forged on a retelling of a retelling, and a legend is born. This goose chase gets right the the heart of why this show exists.  Special thanks and should out to Estelle Hargraves of The Skittish Library for being the real MVP of this episode, and getting right to the core of the Ourang Medan mystery.

Episode 7: Spoopy Lights and Other Delights

This week we talk about the Hornet Spook Light, a mysterious apparition along the Devil's Promenade between Missouri and Oklahoma.  Is it a ghost?  Is it a spirit? Episode 6: Indigo A-Go-Go

This week we talk about indigo children, the magical little spuds of our future who can do no wrong. Why is this a thing? And why are people so convinced of it? We dig into the history to try and find out.  Also, apologies for the weird audio in this episode -- we're still newbies, so please excuse the fact that Kristy sounds like she's in the next room. We goofed, our bad.

This week, it's an incredible journey into the center of your own genetic code!  We talk about CRISPR, the so-high-tech-it's-almost-sci-fi technique that allows scientists to write and insert their own genetic code into living things. Sound complicated? It is.  But it's also borderline magical. 

Episode 4: Gay Frog Potion #9

This week we talk about Alex Jones, the internet's favorite redfaced sputtering conspiracy theorist and purveyor of all sorts of halfway-sourced crazy theories. In specific, we talk about one of his most broadly hilarious claims, that the governnment is turning all the frogs gay with chemicals. Also, there's cookies.  A bunch of cookies.

This week, we get into who's REALLY in charge here on planet earth: our supreme overlords, the reptilian people, naturally. This episode details everything there is to know about our slimy, scaly rulers, as well as a lot on David Icke, the alternatingly pitiable and infuriating man who popularized it all.

This week we dive into the weird and mysterious Montauk Monster, a freaky creature that has inspired legends and conspiracies since it was found dead in Long Island (some really REALLY weird stories in fact) and was the inspiration behind one massive hit TV show.  This episode comes with apologies to David Duchovny.
